QUESTION
Can you please tell me where you get the eyelashes you use and how you apply them?
Thanks!
RESPONSE FROM AMANDA
I have been using the same eyelashes for years. I use Mohair Strips. A lot of other artists use different kinds of eyelashes, but I find that these work the best for me.
They can be found at the Australian store www.dollworld.com.au
They have all sorts of doll supplies, and one of them are the mohair strips, found here:
MOHAIR STRIPS
The currency is in Australian Dollars, so perhaps check eBay to see if there are Mohair Strips for cheaper. The currency conversion tends to make most things in Australia cost a bit more than America. Just check it out.
Some shops sell the eyelashes already cut to size, but I find the strips handy as you can trim it to fit any sized eye.
When I sculpt the eyelid on my doll, I leave a little bit of a ridge under the eyelid so I can glue the eyelashes on. To glue them on, I line the thread of the eyelashes with a tiny bit of tacky Fabric Glue (In America it is called Fabri-tac). Then I simply position it onto the eyelid with a pair of tweezers.
If the eyelashes are too long for the doll, I trim them down with tiny cuticle scissors.
I will be making a tutorial featuring this method.
