Polymer Clay Supplies

As most of you know, I get most of my art supplies from Dick Blick. I have supplied links to Dick Blick, Etsy and Amazon for practically everything you need to start making dolls.

Staedtler Fimo Puppen Polymer Clay

Staedtler Fimo Puppen Polymer Clay

Puppen (the German word for "doll") is made especially for modeling dolls, small figures, and other detailed creations. This extremely soft polymer clay also keeps its shape, making it ideal for detailed work. Puppen is particularly suited for creating expressive facial features because of its beautiful porcelain shimmer. It can be mixed with Fimo Soft, Fimo Classic, and Fimo Effect clays. It can also be sanded, and painted with acrylic paints. It hardens in a household oven at 230°F.

Cernit Doll-Making Clay

Cernit Doll-Making Clay

Favored by professional doll-makers for its fine, translucent, porcelain-like finish and excellent color range, Cernit oven-dry polymer doll-making modeling clay is now phthalate-free. It is extremely malleable right out of the package, yet even the thinnest pieces possess high tensile strength. Cernit Doll-Making Clay cures quickly to a flexible finish in 15–30 minutes at 265°F, and can be sanded, carved, filed, or even added to after baking, provided it has not been painted or varnished. It remains workable for more than a year, even out of the package.

Super Sculpey Firm

Super Sculpey Firm

This extra firm polymer sculpting clay can be "carved" and used for projects that require fine details. Its gray color has been specially formatted to allow sculptors to create fine details, and so that photographers can catch those fine points. Used in movie studios and by professionals worldwide, it is also a favorite with doll makers.

Smooth-On Rebound 25 Silicone Rubber

Smooth-On Rebound 25 Silicone Rubber

Smooth-On Rebound 25 Silicone Rubber is a self-thickening, platinum-cure silcone for making brush-on molds. Apply with a brush or spatula — holds on a vertical surface without sagging. Quick cures to a soft, flexible rubber with negligible shrinkage. Four thin layers yield a stretchy, strong, and durable mold for casting wax, gypsum, concrete, low-temperature melt metal alloys, or resins. It has a 1:1 mix ratio by volume. For best results, use Smooth-On Plasti-Paste as a support shell. Smooth-On Rebound 25 Silicone Rubber comes in a package of two 16 oz (473 ml) jars. Warning — Not for use in making molds of models containing sulfur, e.g., sulfur-bearing clays.

ArtMolds CastRite Casting Stone

ArtMolds CastRite Casting Stone

This bright white gypsum casting stone is similar to plaster of Paris in both mixing proportions and in use, and makes an ideal cast making material. It may also be used as a shell mold medium. Due to its unique properties, CastRite is even easier to work with than most casting plaster. When combined and properly mixed with water, it is far stronger than plaster of Paris and provides greater detail. Its porosity assures excellent slip castings and it is the mold material of choice when using ArtMolds 407 Latex. Mix CastRite with colored pigments or water-based paints for added artistic effects. When making large casts, layer with ½" applications of CastRite by reinforcing the second and third layers with hemp fibers, fiberglass, or wire mesh. When dry, molds and casts accept paints and other typical finishes well and may be sanded by hand or with power tools. Set time: 2 hours.

Translucent Liquid Sculpey

Translucent Liquid Sculpey

Liquid Sculpey is a translucent liquid form of polymer clay in a plastic squeeze bottle. After baking, it is semi-translucent, not white. Pour it into molds, paint it, or dribble it onto raw or baked Sculpey. Mix it with powdered pigments or oil-based paints to create your own colors, washes, swirls, and so forth. It's great for creating image transfers and stained glass effects. Translucent Liquid Sculpey can be used as a glue to bond one piece to another, either cured or uncured. Baking then forms a strong bond.
